Canadian Zombie Hunter Cleared For Killing a Human.

A Canadian man, 19-year-old Tianhui Zhan who heard voiced in his head tell him to go to Glasgow Scotland then began seeing zombies everywhere and attacked Michael Davis on Oct. 13, 2010 trying to de-animate him. Apparently he hadn’t really been practicing for the Zombie Apocalypse because he didn’t de-animate Michael. He told a psychiatrist that he started seeing blood over the faces of people and thought they were zombies.

According to the reports, the court heard Zhan picked his victim at random in an unprovoked attack because he believed Davis was a zombie who was going to attack him.  The court also heard that Zhan, who is of Chinese origin but lives with his parents in Canada, travelled to Glasgow after hearing voices saying he should go there.  He reportedly told a psychiatrist that he started seeing blood over the faces of people and was convinced they were zombies.

Zombie Apocalypse Knowledge: Know your local critters.

Zombie Survival Tip: Know your local critters. Poisonous vermin can ruin your shot at being a Survivor! This Tarantula was crawling just feet from my gorgeous Girlfriend. Now I am it’s Master! This is the Aphonopelma Aranae or Texas Brown Tarantula. Large size and hairiness of tarantulas attracts attention and concern; however, bites of Texas species are generally not serious to humans. When disturbed, tarantulas maneuver to face the threat and will raise up on their hind legs and stretch out their front legs in a threatening posture. When disturbed they also may rapidly brush the top of their abdomen with their hind legs which dislodges urticating hairs from the spider abdomen which irritate the eyes or skin of an attacker.

Do Cicadas Taste Like Cheetos?

This is what Chef WILL be eating!

PLEASE HEAD OVER TO OUR FACEBOOK PAGE AND LIKE US AFTER READING THIS POST!

So, I honestly never expected to hear that cicada ice cream is all the rage, but what do I know? I’m only a chef.

Sixteen Ways to Eat a Cicada: The Fine Art of Insect Cuisine

What I do know is that one should never ignore a potential food source during the z-poc, and cicadas are self-sustaining and easy to find during summer months, not to mention high in protein.
Interesting fact: the young nymphs are considered tastier and more “chewy,” while the adult cicadas are said to have a somewhat nutty flavor. Mmmm.

I personally don’t think I could muster the guts to harvest and eat these things on a regular basis, but when I’m in dire straits, all food preferences go out the window. It would be interesting to see what would happen if desperation set in. *gulp*

Tell you what folks, I’ll make a deal with you: if we can get up to 150 fans on Facebook by the end of Wednesday next week (6/29), we’ll celebrate by me eating a cicada on live film, and posting the video on the blog as well as Facebook. The preparation method will be chosen by Jason, our DGB leader, with additional input from you, our fans, and I’ll record the whole process from start to finish. Let the adding begin!

What have I done… what have I done…

Zombie Contributor Contest Contestant Edward: WTSHTF: Hospitals, Majax and Contingencies

Here is the third contestant vying for the coveted Contributor Position here at Don’t Get Bit. A fantastic look at Hospitals, Majax and Contingencies by Edward. To vote simply hit the like button at the bottom of the post!

The hospital is arguably the most vital location at the beginning of any potential undead outbreak. Consider any accident or emergency; we call 999 or 911 and get help from police, paramedics and fire department since they are there to aid the public and are all noble services that try their utmost every single day. We depend on these people to save us in our times of need. A hospital is the place where we go to heal, recover and receive professional help and it’s always the right thing to do to seek medical attention should you need it at your local GP surgery or hospital. Should anyone ever get bitten by any animal, wild, trained pet or human, they would get help and for anybody reading this that would involve getting ones behind to the nearest hospital. When a catastrophe occurs, or “when the s**t hits the fan” (WTSHTF), we know where to run usually.

Zombie Contributor Contest Contestant CJ: Short Story “Rodin Frieze”.

Here is the second contestant vying for the coveted Contributor Position here at Don’t Get Bit. A fantastic short story by CJ. To vote simply hit the like button at the bottom of the post!

It started on Twitter and spread throughout the blogosphere as though a nest of cybernetic spiders had exploded. A creeping shadow that followed you everywhere, a phantom second skin. At first it was all just fanboi-ish rumors and unsubstantiated reports from journalists desperate to get out one last story as they scrambled away from their desks to go…where? That didn’t matter, anywhere as long as it was far away. But then the real news started to come in.

Zombie Contributor Contest Contestant Chef: The Nutritional Guide to Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

Here is the first contestant vying for the coveted Contributor Position here at Don’t Get Bit. A fantastic look at The Nutritional Guide to Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse by Chef. To vote simply hit the like button at the bottom of the post!

I come in peace (for the most part), and would just like to say… I hate zombies. Yes, that’s right, I said it. Now, don’t get offended, all you brain munchers out there. For whatever reason, you decided to read this post, and you really only have yourself to blame for that. It’s only fair that I write it out loud, here and now, so you know from the get-go that we are not friends. Besides, the fact that one of your “buddies” suggested you check out this blog and you actually fell for it proves that you really are a lower lifeform, and I would really recommend reconsidering your choice of “friends.” *sigh* zombies these days… Well, I think we’ve all learned a valuable lesson, and it just goes to show that a little honesty and a big concrete building with reinforced entrances and double barrelled, loaded shotguns can go a long way.  ^.^So get lost, you bacteria and parasite infested flesh barrels. This stuff isn’t for you.

Now that THAT’s out of the way, we can continue on to a more interesting discussion! Today’s topic: The Nutritional Guide to Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse. What you need to know to avoid starvation and a fate worse than… well, at least just as bad as, death.

Zombie Apocalypse Survival Skill: Suturing An Open Wound

In the Zombie Apocalypse one of the most important survival skills to have is the ability to administer first aid under the most stressful of conditions. In today’s class we are going to be discussing Suturing or Stitching a wound on the battlefield. You will need someone on your team to act as a medic and each member of the team should be able to do basic First Aid on anyone on the team and themselves. I recommend making sure that all members of the team be certified for first aid ahead of time. The Red Cross offers First aid classes as do most community colleges in all areas of the US.

While having a suture kit in an emergency situation is a good idea, knowing how to suture wounds might be a better idea.  Many who have had medical training have been taught suture kit techniques, however that’s no guarantee that such a trained person will be handy or that they will have sutures in their pocket.

To be prepared for all apocalypse scenarios, it would be wise to have a suture kit in your first aid kit, your bugout bag, and in your car emergency kit. Even if you have never had training in suture kit techniques, with the proper equipment and some basic knowledge you can still do the necessary suturing in an emergency. The kit shown in the picture is the Emergency Surgical & Suture Kit available through Nitro-Pak Preparedness Center for $48.99.

Zombie Apocalypse Knowledge: Zombie Identification

Epic Post Warning! In the Zombie Apocalypse few things could be as important as Zombie Identification. Being able to identify Zeds at close range or at a distance should be an important Zombie Survival Skill that any Survivor should have already mastered. Nothing could be worse than friendly fire by those you trust and who trust you. A mistake like killing your best Medic could be team shattering and life ending for everyone on your Zombie Apocalypse Survival Team. Tonight to help bring the Independent Zombie Film being produced here in Mesa Arizona that is currently looking for as many zombies as possible, we are going to look at how to identify a Zombie or Zom or Zed at a distance or up close, Don’t Get Bit presents… Zombie Apocalypse Knowledge: Zombie Identification.
