All of us at DGB have always said that the ultimate weapons in the Zombie Apocalypse are wielded ones. Hammers, maces, bats, katanas with shovels attached (Katovels) and cricket bats with ice-skates attached (Crikates) have always been our weapons of choice due to their dispose-ability, find-ability, fix-ability and not needing a lot of skill to use in a deadly way, or in the case of Zombies, a re-deadlier way.
So it’s no surprise that according to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually (pre-zedocalypse) with hammers and clubs outnumbers murders committed with a rifle.
Think about it… In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618. In 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs. (Why the sudden drop?)
And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant. Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.
So they can try and take our guns but they’ll never take our ball-peens! Keep swinging everyone and save those bullets for Lord Humongous!
Slingshots like these have been made by rebels starved of resources as their conflict with pro-government forces continues.
Improvisation in the Zombie Apocalypse will be your best survival technique. Adapting to the innumerably different situations you will undoubtedly face will probably be the difference between life and death. Use your brains or eat them. That’s why we are awarding the Syrian Rebels the Improvised Zombie Apocalypse Weapon of the week!
Syrian rebels have turned to making their own improvised weapons as they continue to fight more heavily armed forces loyal to the country’s embattled president, Bashar al-Assad.
A portable rocket-launcher, a hand-grenade and various explosives are among the home-made arms which have been developed by the rebels, who have even resorted to using a PlayStation games console controller to fire mortar rounds.
Lacking in ammunition and anti-aircraft weaponry, they have produced the makeshift arsenal from all the materials they can muster.
We here at Don’t Get Bit have always held the ideas that, sure we’re awesome, sure we are deadly and sure we give great advice. But underlying that is the idea that, FOR GOD SAKES WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU GUYS F*CKING YOURSELVES UP!
The best chemistry experiments are those you can perform with items already laying around your house. With only some sugar, salt substitute and an instant cold pack, you can make your very own gunpowder! Being able to make homemade gunpowder without a trip to the store can be a lifesaver, no matter if it’s just for testing out a Civil War-era musket, blowing up stubborn tree stumps, or preparing for battle when imperialists overrun your country.
Materials You Need…
Instant cold pack
Scale that can measure grams
Stove or hotplate
In making saltpeter, we combined ammonium nitrate from the cold pack with potassium chloride from the salt substitute. Chemically, the equation looks like this:
NH4NO3 + KCl -> KNO3 + NH4Cl
Essentially, what we are doing is switching around the compound words in the chemicals. We are inducing the two chemicals to exchange ions so that ammonium nitrate and potassium chloride become potassium nitrate and ammonium chloride. The potassium nitrate crystalizes while the ammonium chloride remains a liquid.
The lightweight M26 12-Gauge Modular Accessory Shotgun System (MASS) attaches to the M4 Carbine and zeroes to the host weapon. It is also designed to operate as a stand-alone system, and comes with a recoil-absorbing, collapsible buttstock. With a Picatinny rail on top, the receiver can be used to mount sighting equipment. The bolt handle (charging handle) is mountable on either side for ambidextrous handling.
After over a decade of development, and testing and tweaking, the U.S. Army is finally issuing the M26 12 Gauge Modular Accessory Shotgun Systems (MASS) to the troops. There are two versions of MASS. The one that attaches underneath the barrel of an assault rifle weighs 1.2 kg (2.7 pounds) and is 420mm (16.5 inches) long. The standalone version weighs 1.9 kg (4.25 pounds) and is 610mm (24 inches) long (with the stock collapsed). Both versions of the M26 have a five round magazine and are basically a 12 gauge shotgun that can be operated right or left handed. It fires solid shot for blasting open closed doors or lower velocity, non-lethal (most of the time) rubber slugs for dealing with hostile crowds.
The Pentagon on Thursday held a successful test flight of a flying bomb that travels faster than the speed of sound and will give military planners the ability to strike targets anywhere in the world in less than a hour.
Launched by rocket from Hawaii at 1130 GMT, the “Advanced Hypersonic Weapon,” or AHW, glided through the upper atmosphere over the Pacific “at hypersonic speed” before hitting its target on the Kwajalein atoll in the Marshall Islands, a Pentagon statement said.
Kwajalein is about 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) southwest of Hawaii. The Pentagon did not say what top speeds were reached by the vehicle, which unlike a ballistic missile is maneuverable.
Scientists classify hypersonic speeds as those that exceed Mach 5 — or five times the speed of sound — 3,728 miles (6,000 kilometers) an hour.
The US Army’s AHW project is part of the “Prompt Global Strike” program which seeks to give the US military the means to deliver conventional weapons anywhere in the world within an hour.
In the Zombie Apocalypse you are going to have to improvise. You’ll need to have street smarts if you want to be a Survivor and not a Zombie Snack. So be prepared for anything! Here’s how to hot wire a motorcycle for a quick get away!
You’ve got to protect your kids from all harm, especially in the Zombie Apocalypse. Teach your kid to shoot and you can push! But that’s not why this stroller has a rifle and a shotgun attached. Competitive practical shooters, particularly those in 3-gun competitions (rifle, shotgun, and handgun) have to transport a lot of gear around. Some have found that it’s easier if they modify jogging strollers to carry their equipment. You can see more examples at the link.
(Video Below The Fold) The U.S. Navy has hit a major milestone with the 1,000th firing of its electromagnetic railgun. Commanders said the milestone means that the incredible state of the art weapon has moved closer to actual deployment on warships.
The railgun is not like other weapons of warfare. Instead of relying on explosions to fire a projectile, it uses an electromagnetic current to shoot a non-explosive bullet at several times the speed of sound.
The railgun developed by the Navy launches and accelerates hundreds of conductive projectiles along pairs of metal rails using the effects of a strong magnetic field. It can accelerate a seven pound projectile to a speed of 5,600 miles.
Navy officials said that the range of a railgun is up to 20 times greater than that of conventional weapon systems. A projectile could reach a target 290 miles away in less than six minutes and impact it with incredible force.
